Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Tray MAP Machines

What is Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP)?
MAP involves replacing the air inside a sealed tray with a controlled mixture of gases (typically N₂ and CO₂) to extend shelf life, inhibit microbial growth, and preserve the colour, texture, and flavour of food products.
How does the sensor-based guarantee system work?
Sensors continuously monitor the vacuum level and gas composition in each cycle. If any pack falls outside the set parameters, the machine automatically flags or rejects it — ensuring 100% quality assurance without manual checking.
How quickly can mould formats be changed?
TRAVAC's quick-change mould design allows format changeovers in under 15 minutes — no special tools required. This makes it ideal for production lines handling multiple SKUs or tray sizes.
What is the difference between Standard Format 1 and 2?
Standard Format 1 handles 100–150 Kgs/Hr with a single-row configuration, while Standard Format 2 doubles the output to 200–300 Kgs/Hr using a wider, dual-row tray layout. Both run at 2–3 cycles per minute.
Can the machine do skin packing?
Yes — Vacuum Skin Packing (VSP) is available as an optional attachment, including a version for cardboard-backed trays. It creates a tight, skin-like seal that enhances product presentation and extends shelf life further.
